To Richard Madden

Provincetown, Mass.
Oct. 27, 1920.

My dear Madden:

I am enclosing a check for one hundred dollars which Boni and Liveright have sent me for the advance on "Gold'.  You can explain to them that all such transactions for this book must be done through you.  You can also ask them why they made it a hundred instead of one and a quarter as the terms of our old agreement call for.

I expect to be in New York next Sunday for a stay of a couple of days to witness the opening of "The Emperor Jones" at the P.P.  Will call you up Monday morning and arrange to see you and talk over things sometime that day, if this is convenient for you.  Will you try and get this business of the "Gold" book wound up in the meantime?

Until then.

Sincerely,

Eugene O'Neill.
