To Richard Madden

Provincetown, Mass.
Nov. 26, 1919.

My dear Madden:

Your's of yesterday received.  I'm sorry to hear that Lykens promises to turn out a false alarm.  I had hoped something might come of this matter to give me a lift over the rough spots.

Did you write those Phily people about my "Before Breakfast?"  I'd certainly like to gouge some corn out of them just for the satisfaction, if for nothing else.  That stuff of doing my plays without even asking permission sure gets my goat.

I suppose there's nothing new in the Williams direction.  Has Bennett got a Chicago theatre yet?

Haven't heard from Tyler and suspect he is too bawled up in his own trouble just at present to want to be bothered with details.  Is there any sign in the future of the jamb in the theatres easing up?

With very kindest regards,

Very sincerely yours,

Eugene O'Neill.
