To Richard Madden

My dear Madden:

Your letter of Saturday received.  I shall be glad to have a look at Williams' guarantee letter.  It sounds too definite to be true where he is concerned.  The most important thing in this whole matter is that the play must be produced before December 1st or he will loose it.  If he wishes to get it on out at Chicago before that date it seems to me he will have to get busy -- unless Bennett has been going ahead with the play meanwhile, relying on Williams to come to satisfactory terms with me.  I am very curious to know all about this and hope you will be able to pry the information out of John D. without any further delay.

Let's hope Tyler will read The Straw after he gets tonight's production off his hands.

With very best regards,

Very sincerely yours,

Eugene O'Neill
